In Germany, advanced forest fire early warning systems are increasingly being used to fight forest fires caused by climate change. The state of Brandenburg is particularly affected due to its dry air, strong winds and sandy soils. IQ FireWatch continuously monitors the area. Many fires have been detected and contained before they have had a chance to spread.

What began 20 years ago is now implemented comprehensively in the districts of Bautzen, Görlitz, Nordsachsen, and Meißen. Saxony relies on the state-of-the-art IQ FireWatch camera system to quickly detect forest fires.

The German TV Channel ZDF reports on the first "IQ FireWatch" forest fire control centre in North Rhine-Westphalia, which was opened in Wesel on 6 March. Eight special cameras for monitoring forest fires are controlled from the new centre in Wesel.

Brandenburg's Minister of Agriculture Axel Vogel praises the "IQ Firewatch" technology for early forest fire detection, which has been used in Brandenburg for 20 years, as a national leader.

In addition to systems further south in Chile, an IQ Firewatch is being installed in the metropolitan region.
